History reveals nomadic people as the most probable winner, when a nomadic tribe and sedentary tribe fight each other. To answer why it is happening, we have to perceive it from different angles. The subjugation of Red Indians or the subjugation of ancient Indian tribes all divulge the same thing, that peace loving people are not technology loving people. The invention of guns or using bow and arrow from fast running horse carts all had made major impact in winning.
When Chandragupta Maurya founded the Maurya kingdom, they were the best war strategists in ancient India. They become more peace loving over the period of time and he embraced Jainism and his grandson embraced Buddhism. The decline of Maurya empire reminds us that peace loving people fail to preserve their land. Two world wars taught us the futility of war but the craving for war mongering is our basic instinct. Good and evil is within us, but to rule the world we have to poke our evil nature more and more and thereby becoming a tough competitor for the devil.
Another angle to this aspect is that, we become more and more knowledgeable because of our war mongering nature. From ancient times onwards, we depended technology for not making the world a better place but more making new weapons. The existing isolated tribes remind us that they still living in the dark ages in terms of knowledge. Today when everybody desires for a peaceful world, the history reminds us that peaceful people are easy prey to a selfish war monger. In today’s world, countries initiative for accumulation of weapons and aspiration for adding nuclear weapon to its arsenal all had one intention, that an attacker should fear us and refrain from attacking. Finding sense of safety by acquiring nuclear weapon is a hilarious idea and everybody knows that another nuclear attack will annihilate human civilization. USA allocated $1.05 trillion in fiscal year 2026 for its defense budget makes us realize the price we have to pay for peaceful living. The saddest part is that we are selfish even with our desire for peace; this will only change when we shift our mindset from ‘peaceful living for my people’ to ‘peaceful living for all of humanity’
