Two takeaways from one hundred years of Solitude ….

The evergreen classic One Hundred Years of Solitude written by Gabriel Garcia Marquez requires no special mention among readers. The epitome of magical realism with intriguing characters captures your imagination while reading the novel. It is an epic classic that is worth for reading more than once. The world of Macondo and the family of Jose Arcadia Buendia will surprise you with their story by showing the inner layers of human relationships. This novel taught me that, if you want to capture the attention of a reader don’t portray flat characters. The mysterious outlook of characters can bring more substance to your story.

After reading the novel, the one sentence that resonated on mind is “Lost under the chest nut tree”. It will deeply move us to realize the fragility of life in old age. Old age without health and wealth is a nightmare but it is more frightening to realize that even the memories fade like ripe leaves. Losing memories means losing one’s identity and if you lose it, then there is nothing else to lose. I know that the novel requires more detailed review and study , but right now just stopping with my two takeaways from this fabulous creation.
