Why death fascinates the writer at the end of  his story ….

The Classical gem of Malayalam novel Khasakkinte Ithihasam written by O V Vijayan , indirectly hints the death the central character Ravi at the end of novel. The poetically crafted death of  Ravi with out mentioning the word death gives the reader an enigmatic experience. After my first reading, I desperately tried and logically defended myself that bite of infant snake is not that poisonous. After researching on online I got disappointed to know that even the bite of infant snake is deadly. Another classic from Malayalam Novel written by Mayyazhippuzhayude theerangalil written by M Mukundan also ends with the death of the central character “Dasan”.

In my first written novel in Malayalam “Gamacharitham”, I accidently plunge into this reality and understood that death is beautifully crafted end to your creative imagination. It fascinates the writer by giving a pinch of sorrow to the reader with the theme of death to make their characters immortal in the mind of the readers. In the Malayalam movie “chitram” directed by Priyadarshan also depended the concept of death to give the viewer. a shock of disappointment and the viewer will desperately crave for any possibility for the escape of the central character.

After viewing this movie, I was deeply disappointed with director Priyadarshan for spoiling the mesmerising movie with the theme of death. The character played by Soman exhibits a cruel mentality for his professional grace even though he knows the entire life of character played by Mohan lal. Any man with empathy will allow the escape of Vishnu to continue his love life with Kalyani. As a  disheartened viewer , I imagined my self that kalyani will fight for his lover by file a special leave petition before Supreme court, thereafter review petition and mercy petition before President of India to reduce the death sentence of Vishnu. I defended my self that the judicial system in India will reduce the death sentence. after knowing the accidental murder of his wife  and condition of Vishnu’s  daughter. Recently I saw this movie again , and again got disheartened at the end of the movie to spend my time exploring the ways to save the life of the Vishnu. If Chitram is a happy ending movie , a viewer I don’t spend this much time thinking about the possibilities to save Vishnu. This reminded me that death is beautifully crafted end to any mortal being that allows any person to live in the memories of people who loves them.
